About Me

Welcome to Completely Wireless Fencing. As the name implies, I design, manufacture and sell wireless products for the sport of fencing. All of my products are designed and developed in-house. Although many of the parts are sourced from around the world, all final assembly is done in the UK by myself and a small team of colleagues. My products are currently only available through this website, but I hope to make them available via distributors in the near future.

Early Career

I started designing electronic circuits way back in 1985 after graduating from University. For the first 15 years of my career I worked for a number of large avionics companies designing and developing cockpit displays for military fast jets and military transporters, including Eurofighter Typhoon and Boeing C17. I then moved onto electrical load management systems for a number of commercial airliners, including the Boeing 777.

Later Career

I spent another 20 years designing and developing embedded processor boards for commercial applications.

Fencing

I started fencing in 2009 and have fenced nearly every week since and still find it fascinating and thoroughly enjoyable.

Coaching

I started coaching in 2010 and completed my Level 3 Epee coaching award in 2013. I am a volunteer coach at Wingerworth Fencing Club and also run the club. I also spent two years coaching at a private school in a paid role.

Wireless Fencing

In 2014 I teamed up with a fencing equipment supplier to develop a new version of their already successful wireless scoring system. This was on a purely voluntary basis and only part time. After 8 years of design and development, I finally came up with a product that was radically different from anything on the market. A range of wireless scoring systems were launched in May 2023 called Completely Wireless Epee. These were upgraded in January 2025 to improve performance.

In May 2025 I decided to start my own business, so Completely Wireless Fencing was born.

In August 2025 I launched two new wireless plastic swords called Completely Wireless Plastic, one with an epee socket and another with fully integrated electronics inside the handle. These swords interface with the Completely Wireless Epee wireless scoring systems.
